Swedish Squares (Grandma Obermoeller)

1 c sugar

1 c butter

1 egg yolk

2 c flour

1 c pecans, chopped

Heat oven 250°.  Mix in order given; then pat in ungreased cookie pan very thin.  Beat egg white and brush over dough.  Sprinkle generously with nuts and bake 45-50 minutes.  Cut into squares while slightly warm.
