Oatmeal Cake (Gram’s)

Heat oven 350°

1 c quick Quaker oats

1 ¼ c boiling water

Mix and let stand 20 minutes.

Cream: 1 c brown sugar

            1 c white sugar

            ½ c margarine

Add:     2 eggs (beaten)

Sift:      1 ½ c flour

            1 tsp soda

            1 tsp salt

            1 tsp cinnamon

Add alternately with oatmeal.  Bake for 40 – 45 minutes.

Topping

¼ c margarine

½ c brown sugar

¼ c half n’ half

1 tsp vanilla

1 c chopped pecans

Spread on cake while hot and place under broiler until bubbly.
