Pastry for One-Crust Pie
1/3 to 2/3 cup sugar
¼ cup all-purpose flour
½ tsp. ground cinnamon
½ tsp. ground nutmeg
Dash of slat
8 cups thinly sliced peeled tart apples (about 8 medium)
Crumb Topping
1 cup all-purpose flour
½ cup packed brown sugar
½ cup firm stick margarine or butter
1. Heat oven to 425 degrees. Prepare pastry.
2. Mix sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt on large bowl. Stir in apples. Turn apples into pastry-lined pie plate.
3. Sprinkle apple mixture with Crumb topping (mix flour, brown sugar and margarine until crumbly.)
4. Cover topping with aluminum foil during last 10 minutes of baking to prevent excessive browning. Bake 50 minutes. Serve warm
